Janus was founded in Krefeld in 1971. Five English lads who lived and worked there. The debut album "Gravedigger" was recorded in the EMI studios in Cologne and released on the now defunct Harvest label.

In 2013, EMI re-released the album as a double CD with remixes and bonus tracks and the band filmed their only video clip for "I Wanna Scream" - 40 years later! As the need for this psychedelic and timeless piece of music is unbroken, the German label MIG will re-release the album as an LP. The tracks: First, the fan favorite "Red Sun" takes us into outer space and beyond. Followed by the haunting "Bubbles".

Pop/Rock? "Watch Tryin" To Do" is a track that can't really be described: strange verses, backwards orchestra and fast-paced drums. Completely original. Side A ends with the aforementioned 'I Wanna Scream', which is punk before punk was invented. Then the one song on side B (20+ minutes) that rounds off the album in a completely different way. Basically an acoustic song about a man ending his life on the beach, accompanied by a classic Spanish guitar solo, swelling orchestra, seagulls and rolling waves. A wonderful tapestry of sound. 'Gravedigger' is a must for lovers of the psychedelic era of the 60s/70s
