Originally released in 1983, Metal Circus was still largely rooted in Husker Du's more frantic punk-hardcore sound, however signs of a new, more melodic-pop feel were creeping in, especially with the Grant Hart influence over 'It's Not Funny Anymore' and 'Diane'.
