We come to you today with a great announcement for something long in the works. This week marks the first album released under the record label arm of Eroding Winds. After 9 years as a record store we've decided to tie in our experience in other aspects of the music industry in an effort to help expose exceptional, innovative music to the world. Our in-house imprint will focus primarily on electronic, progressive, experimental, and new age music, something that is a great passion for many of us here at the shop. Our first release is here and available now. We are proud to present the vinyl edition of the new record Heat Relief by Milwaukee-based Nicholas Elert.
Elert works in a variety of styles that often fall under the umbrella of “Heavy”, since 2010 he has led a double life playing in various doom metal, post-rock, and experimental bands, while simultaneously producing soundtrack scores for indie films. In 2018 Elert began releasing music under his own name, seeking to coalesce the two lives into one. After years of working exclusively in film, he returns to the album format with Heat Relief, the first LP since the 2020 release Infinity Gate.
Heat Relief was initially composed as a live performance for an art therapy event at Mount Mary University. Utilizing modular synths and heavily manipulated guitar recordings, the music creates a lush electric atmosphere that is concurrently meditative and cathartic. Each track on Heat Relief reveals a sonic narrative arc. Play it loud. The album was recorded live without any overdubs using a 168 HP modular synthesizer, micro granny, and FX.
Elert’s work focuses on sound as a visceral, engulfing force. Applying modern perspective to classic inspiration within the electronic music genres.
We’ve always been big fans of Elert and his work, so it’s a great joy to work together for our first release. Heat Relief is in stock at both stores and available online for $25. Limited to 100 copies on 180g black vinyl.
