Black Mold has a lot of love letters in it, not least of which is a love for horror tropes. The film contains a multitude of classics: scarecrows, werewolves, zombies, ghosts, and maybe less obvious, a haunted house. One of the main functions of the score is to give a voice to the dilapidated Franklin Hill location. Sonic reminders that we're always surrounded by splintering wood, crumbling concrete, rusting metals, and the titular mold that is the catalyst for everything.

Shane Hochstetler and I went down to the abandoned Chanute Air Force Base where the cast and crew were filming, and hit, scraped, and threw anything we could find. Eternal thanks to Nick Caza for lending us a silent battery to power our gear. These sounds, supplemented by decaying tape loops, misbehaving synthesizers, and the utterly unique voice of Amanda Schoofs, are presented here.

The music on this album has been edited and reorganized from the original cues in order to provide a coherent and independent listening experience.
