OH YEAH Y'ALL! It's time for that official Record Store Day 2025 info! It's coming up this Saturday and we are stoked. We're very well prepared this year and looking forward to another smooth and fun RSD seeing a lot of our favorite folks and new faces excited to pick up records.
Each store will have donuts and coffee for the first 30ish people in line or while supplies last, we'll get those out as early as we can. Thanks to New Moon Cafe in Oshkosh and Lawlss Coffee in Appleton for providing the coffee! Much appreciated.
Before we rundown the RSD protocol, a quick note for those that are looking forward to browsing the JAKE VAN LOON collection: RSD is going to be insanely busy so we made the decision to WAIT to put out any of Jake's old records until a LATER DATE so that all friends and interested parties can browse those comfortably in one location on a single day. We have a Sunday in May selected where we will have the JAZZ JAKE SALE, more details on that after RSD. But nothing from that collection will be put out for sale this weekend. Please pass the word to those affected by this change.
Here's how we do things at Eroding Winds. It's the best way we've found to do it on a crazy, crazy day...
- SALES: The usual business from us here: 15% off new CDs and LPs (Excludes RSD exclusives) and 75% off ALL bargain bin LPs (that's used vinyl normally priced $1-$3), and. No sale on general used vinyl since we're dropping an enormous amount of GOOD STUFF. We've been workin hard.
- We will fully open at our regular time, 11 am. We hate getting up early and we're going to be working late on Friday!
- Yes, we have RSD exclusive releases, and kind of a lot this time around! The allocations weren't too brutal this year, but some big ones got cut down. We are getting MORE CHARLIXCX AFTER RECORD STORE DAY.
- We will have 2000 (!!!) fresh used LP arrivals at split between both stores. It's literally insane how much stuff we priced up. The staff killed in getting this stuff ready, and there are some incredibly rare titles in there.
- Roughly an hour before we open we will bring RSD exclusive release CHECKLISTS outside and pass them out to everyone waiting in line. These checklists will include all the releases we actually received.
- Everyone in line marks down what they're looking for and we will collect those lists. You can get as many different titles as you NEED, but RSD releases are limited to 1 of each title per person (Seriously, don't mess with us about this. You won't win and we will think you're a jabroni forever)
- We will then pick the checklists in order of your position in line and hold the stack at the counter so you can browse the rest of the store when we open. If you want to check out right away without browsing our enormous used drop you can do that, too.
- Any RSD checklist records not claimed in two hours will be considered abandoned and the records will be sold to other customers.
IMPORTANT: The phone will be unplugged until after 3pm and we probably won't answer social media DMs all day. We are going to be very busy at both stores and literally cannot answer the phone or answer any type of social media DMs or emails. Your only option is to come down to the shop in person and check things out.
