NEW:
Perturbator “Age of Aquarius” (CD this week, LP bumped to 10/24). I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while now. Exceptional dark electronica that was founded in synthwave/cyberpunk stuff, but has expanded to incorporate more industrial, goth, and post punk influence. This project evolved significantly over the last 3 or 4 albums, and this new one is no exception. Guest features from Ulver, Alcest, Author & Punisher, and Greta Link.
Author & Punisher “Nocturnal Birding”
Exactly what I want to hear in October, dark industrial metal. Comparisons to Godflesh would be applicable, but honestly also kinda lazy. It’s so much more and has its own unique identity. Check out live videos, he uses a bunch of machines he BUILT HIMSELF as input devices to control the sounds. This is instantly one of my favorite A&P records. Great guests on the album as well, including Kuntari, Fange, and Megan from Couch Slut.

Ved Buens Ende “Written in Waters”
You’re going to have to buckle up for this one. Those already familiar know why this is here. In 1995 this Norwegian band released one of the most important & influential avantgarde Black Metal albums of all time. The landscape of extreme music would be vastly different had this record never been made. LISTEN UP.
Tristeza “Dream Signals in Full Circles”
One of the finest albums of the 90s-00s dreamy, instrumental post-rock scene is finally available again! This is an all-timer for me, a desert island disc, an ethereal landscape masterpiece. I’ve always considered Tristeza one of the primary reasons the post-rock tag exists, alongside bands Mogwai, GY!BE, Tortoise, Mono. And although they may not have a ton of close sonic comparisons to those artists, it’s all coming from kind of the same world. Highest recommendations for one of my personal favorites.
